Playing at the Park

After dinner the other day we walked to the park as a family.  I pushed the stroller with Mattie while Justin pulled Levi in the wagon.  Levi really enjoyed himself, running around, sweating, and meeting all the other kids.  It's fun to watch him go down slides, walk across the drawbridge, climb up ladders, and go through the tube.  It wasn't long ago that he needed my help to do some of those things and he could stand upright in the tube.  Going home was not as fun because Mattie was crying (she really prefers breastfeeding over a bottle of breast milk), and Levi was whining because he was tired but did not want to leave.  But here are some pictures of Levi having a blast...

Peekaboo!

Hey Mom! I was just talking to the ladies.

Likes to be in the middle of the big kids.

Sweet Kids

Levi wanted to hold Mattie so I let him.  He was talking sweetly to her and giving her kisses.

Visit with Great Aunt Rebecca

Justin's Aunt Rebecca came to Texas for a visit this past weekend and stopped by to see Mattie and Levi. I dressed Mattie up complete with shoes and a bow. Here are some pictures from her visit:

Rebecca came bearing gifts.  Levi liked the bag.

Big Boy Bed!

On Tuesday, I decided to do a trial run of Levi sleeping in the bed in the "Big Boy Room".  The pest control guy had left the door to the room open and when I said it was nap time, Levi ran into that room and crawled in the bed.  I figured what the heck, let's see if this works.  He only came back to the living room twice and each time I just told him to go back to bed and he obeyed.  I checked on him a little bit later and voila!  He still went to his crib at bedtime though.  Then on Wednesday, he not only went to that room for naptime but also for bedtime.  He never even tried to come out again after I put him down in the evening.  I guess he's officially a big boy now (*sniff*).  Now I can work on getting the nursery set up for Mattie though.

Here are pictures I took of his first naptime in the big boy bed:

Celebrating Mom

On Saturday, Gigi came out in the afternoon to visit and eat dinner.  Justin smoked some pork chops and chicken, and we did some squash and zucchini from our garden in a foil bag on the grill.  I also cooked some green beans from our garden.  It was all very delicious.  I even made a cake for dessert.  On actual Mother's Day we all pretty much bummed around the house.  Justin changed diapers and I managed to take a bubble bath in the evening.  He also picked up donuts for breakfast and wings for dinner so I didn't have to cook.  It was a pretty good day!  Here are some picture from our visit with Gigi.

Life's a Beach

We made an impromptu trip to Galveston Beach yesterday!  Justin had to go to Freeport for work yesterday, and he knew it shouldn't take too long, so we decided to go together.  After Justin did what he had to do (while I sat in the car with the kids for an hour - during Levi's naptime. That was a lot of fun :/ ), we drove over to Galveston for lunch and the beach.  After a quick bite at McAlister's Deli, we parked at the seawall and proceeded down to the beach.  Levi was NOT impressed with the sand or the water.  He was more interested in all the birds.  It took him a long time to get comfortable, but eventually he was running up and down the beach and finally got his feet wet in the water.  That proceeded to be fun until he actually fell into the water and was completely soaked.  He was done after that.  We left Galveston about 3:40 in the afternoon so we didn't hit too much traffic on the way home.

NOT having it.  Holding on for dear life.

Justin loving the life hug.

Ooh, birds!

Much more fun to chase birds.

The view is better up here, Dad.  Closer to the birds, further from the water.

After awhile, finally comfortable to run on the sand, away from Mom who wanted to get a picture with him.

Still chasing birds.

See Mattie, you were there too.

And a fall.

Justin showing Levi how to wash the sand off.  He wasn't too convinced.

Keeping a hand on Dad for reassurance.

Hey! This is kind of fun! I do love playing in the water at home.

Marching into the water. I got this, Dad.

And then, as Mom was talking to a girl on the beach who offered to take our picture, somebody fell completely in the water. Love his reaction in this photo.
