Fur Pillow

Doo-Dah is a pretty chill cat; not much can faze him. Dog chewing on his neck, legs and ears, no problem; 2 year old hitting him on the head (trying to pet him), whatever; Justin spinning him around in circles on the tile floor, more please. But when his playmate, Bella, decided he would make a comfy pillow, he had to squirm away.

This was Doo-Dah chilling when I decided to take a picture of him:

Of course Bella followed me over to him, so when I told her to lay down so she wouldn't step all over the cat, she obliged:

It didn't take long for Doo-Dah to get out from underneath the dog, but he did continue to lay next to her, rubbing his head on Bella to get her to play. I tried to get a picture of Doo-Dah biting on Bella's jowls (which he does to get her to play with him), but I just couldn't get a good shot. Another time...

Painting with a Twist

Hannah and I went to a painting class this morning at a place called Painting with a Twist. It's a very casual environment to let your creativity go. The class we went to was to paint this peacock. We had a blast! I went to one of their classes a few weeks ago and painted one called Midnight Cherry Blossoms with several of my girlfriends. It was so much fun that I've been spreading the word. Hannah wasn't able to join me for the last one so we picked this class and picture to do together. They both turned out really awesome! I've already hung mine up in our master bedroom.

Birthday!

Justin celebrated his birthday on June 16th. Originally he was not going to be home but due to some last minute schedule changes, he was able to be here. So of course I had not planned anything. I bought him the new video game, Red Dead Redemption, which looks like a Western. (You've probably seen commercials for it.) Justin is really not that much of a gamer, but he was thoroughly enjoying this game. I even gave it to him early in case he didn't like it, we could take it back. On his actual birthday, we went over to Jim and Erica's house to grill out and swim in their saltwater pool. Then, on Friday night, we went to dinner with our friends Skyler and Sheila to Fogo de Chao. Yummy! We OD'ed on meat and even ate dessert. Justin's cheesecake came with a candle on it and Happy Birthday written around the rim of the plate in strawberry sauce after I told the waiter it was his birthday. We also got it for free :). He didn't even have to be embarassed because they don't come over and sing at the table. All in all, I think Justin had a pretty good birthday week!

Mexico!

HOLA!

This is where I got to spend this past week:

Hanging out on the beach under a cabana

Hanging out in the poolside cabana

Waiting for the golf cart to pick us up for dinner

We went snorkeling in this lagoon (at Xel-Ha, an ecological waterpark where the cool freshwater river combines with the warmer saltwater ocean)

You could even swim with the dolphins if you wanted at Xel-Ha

We encountered tons of lizards and iguanas

We visited Tulum, a Mayan fortress on the coast

Ready for another dinner; here's a toast to being on vacation!

Mr. Snake

A lot of people are shocked to discover that I have a pet snake. So, for those people requesting an update and pictures of Boots, here they are:

Here you can get an idea of how big around he is; this is as close as my fingers get:

And of course when I have the snake out of his cage, I have to keep the other animals out. But because Boots lives in our office, the cats and dog sit and stare through the French Doors. And meow, and whine, and paw at the door, and try to sniff under the door...
