This past weekend we went to Boerne to visit my parents and so Levi
could ride the annual hayride in their neighborhood. Because we live
out in the country, it makes trick or treating door to door difficult,
so the neighborhood just does one big hayride. The road is one way in,
one way out and makes a loop, so it is perfect for this. All of the
kids ride the hayride and as we progress from house to house, the
neighbors all stand at the end of their drives and walk around the
trailers passing out candy. That way the kids never have to get off and
all of the candy gets passed out in one shot - no constant doorbell
ringing. Well, because Levi goes to bed so early (around 6:30), and the
hayride started at 6, I was a little worried about him being grumpy.
This ended up not being a problem because he fell asleep in my arms
before it even began! Justin ended up taking him home and my mom stayed
with him while I rode the hayride by myself. Yep, almost 27 years old,
didn't have a costume on, and I got a TON of candy. My dad was pulling
one of the trailers so Justin rode in the cab with him. Oh well, I had
fun. And I got to see a lot of the old neighbors.
And lastly, actual Halloween. We dressed him up again and showed the neighbors, but then he went right to bed. Justin and I sat out and passed out candy. And this time I did dress up. It was kind of last minute, I made some cat ears out of some leftover felt I had (saw it when I was getting my Halloween lights out), tied a red bell around my neck (saw it next to the felt), dressed in black and painted on some whiskers. Voila! Justin and I also carved a pumpkin - as creative and artsy as I am, I can't carve a pumpkin to save my life and Justin isn't much better. From far away it looked good though.
