"Painting" on bread

I saw this on Pinterest and decided to give it a go Thursday morning.  I used a muffin tin, poured a little bit of milk in the cups and food coloring, and gave Levi a couple pieces of bread to paint on.  You are supposed to then toast the bread and eat it and you have colorful toast.  But Levi was taking bites of the bread as he played and because we did this outside, there were flies around, and a dog, so I just tossed the bread.  Levi really had fun with this and I liked it because it was all edible/non toxic.  Bella liked it because she got bread and licked up the spilled milk.
